SUMMARY:Mongi’s Maple Fondo
DESCRIPTION:Since 2018\, there’s been only one record everyone in the BBC has been chasin’\, and that’s Gary Ho’s official BBC pancake ride record of eating 15 cakes mid-century to become our all time high record holder. Mongi’s Maple Fondo marks the official opening of our season and a chance to earn the title of BBC Pancake Champion! \n  \nMONGI’S Maple Fondo: FULL Stack route (~80 miles) starts at Tipico Coffee on Elmwood Ave\, Buffalo\, NY. Fuel up early because you are about to become a maple long hauler. This route rolls out at 9:00am and starts by heading south by way of the sacred Electric Ave training route to Hamburg. We will then dock up with the HALF Stack route (~40 miles) riders at Taylor Road Park in Hamburg\, NY. \n  \nTogether both groups roll out of Taylor Road  at 10:30am. The trek continues south toward Springville till we find the ALL YOU CAN EAT pancake pit stop at Ploetz’s Maple Farm\, 12949 Dowd Rd\, Springville\, NY 14141. \n  \nWhen everyone has had their fill\, we’ll pack up and head north on Sharp Rd. You may not be feeling great at this point but there is solace in knowing it is all downhill from here… Make it back with all your ‘cakes and you’ll earn yourself an official “MONGI’S Maple Fondo” patch! \n  \nYou must be a BBC Member to participate in this event. Join the club here. \n  \nWe hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:Larry Reade Memorial Group Ride
DESCRIPTION:The BBC and NFBC are collaborating on a group ride to celebrate the life and legacy of Larry Reade. Any BBC or NFBC member may participate. The ride will follow an NFBC route: Lockport-Middleport nearing Larry’s hometown of Barker\, NY.  Serendipity finds this route on this day to be flat\, short (21 or 31 miles) and therefore conducive to a social pace – a parade of sorts – for at least the first 13.2 miles\, when the routes split and people can do their own thing.  (to allow those who might do this ride to celebrate the life of LR with friends but also want something resembling training). The conversation and storytelling can continue after the split if you like\, or back in the parking lot! Full Route can be found on Strava here.

SUMMARY:BBC vs BTC Individual Time Trial in Memory of Glenn Hansen
DESCRIPTION:August 11\, 2022 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm\n\n\n\nDetails: This is our annual Buffalo Bicycling Club vs Buffalo Triathlon Club Individual Time Trial on Grand Island!  The Time Trial is the race of truth\, just you against the clock\, challenge yourself to get your best time\, and the fastest time in each category wins. This is memory of the BBC’s former time trial specialist and Grand Island resident\, Glenn Hansen\, who brought many racers into the sport\, and passed away from cancer in 2009.\n\n\n\n$10 registration fee. ALL proceeds go to benefit Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Registration will be open from 5:30 – 6:30pm. Start time is 6:30. Riders will start at 1 minute intervals. No USAC license required. If you are not a member of either club please just show up and pick the team that you want to ride for.  The cumulative score of each club’s riders determine which club wins!\n\n\nCategories: “Open” category means time trial bike\, aero bars\, solid disc rear wheels\, skinsuits\, and all other aero gear is allowed.  The “Cannibal” category means road bikes only (mass start race legal bike)\, no aero bars\, solid disc wheels\, or teardrop helmets allowed (use of aero wheels is allowed).  “Masters 50+”  is an “Open” category for racers age 50 or over. \n  \n  \n\n\nMen’s Open\nMen’s Cannibal\nMen’s Masters 50+\nWomen’s Open\nWomen’s Cannibal\nWomen’s Masters 50+\n\n  \n\nScoring: Points will be awarded to all riders in each category. Total points for all riders in each club will determine the overall club winner! Scoring will be in a “snake draft” format. i.e. Number of entries in each category = number of points for first and count down to last. \n  \n\nExample: If we get 25 in one category\,\n1st = 25pt\, 2nd = 24pt\, 3rd = 23pt\, etc. etc… 25th = 1pt. \nBonus points will be award to the top 3 in each category: 1st = 4pt\, 2nd = 2pt\, 3rd = 1pt \n  \n\n\nCourse: Traditional BBC Grand Island ITT. 20k (12.5 miles)\, flat\, out and back along West River Rd. https://www.buffalobicyclingclub.com/grand-island/ \n  \n\nParking: GP50\, 2770 Long Road\, Grand Island\, NY 14072. There will be a portapotty in the back for riders to use. Please be respectful of the event space so we can continue to use the venue. \n  \n\nAgain all proceeds go to Roswell in memory of one of the BBC’s legendary TT specialists Glenn Hansen. The annual trophy will be awarded for the overall club winner!
