SUMMARY:BBC vs GVCC Club vs Club Race in conjunction with the GVCC Summer Classic
DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the Genesee Valley Cycling Club’s Classic Road Race (a USAC sanctioned event).  To register\, click here. \nThis race is a revival of the BBC vs GVCC Club vs Club Race!  We plan on hosting friendly inter-club competition on a hilly course as part of the USAC sanctioned GVCC Classic Road Race!  This is a special race because BBC member will be on one team\, and every GVCC member will be on another team.  Regardless of regular team affiliation or usual club racing dynamics\, for this race\, we all work together to get the better of our collective competition in the GVCC.  As this is also a sanctioned race\, we understand that your top priority is going for your own result\, so the key objective is to race this hilly course for your own best result and your club’s best result!  As this is a sanctioned race\, there will be racers from other regions besides Buffalo and Rochester\, so they will not count in the club vs club separate scoring. \nThis year\, the GVCC will be hosting it in Rochester on their GVCC Classic Road Race sanctioned event.  It’s a hilly course with an uphill sprint finish!  It’s not too far away from the Buffalo area\, off the Victor exit on the 90 \nParking:\nBristol Mountain Ski Resort\, 5662 NY-64\, Canandaigua\, NY 14424 \nCourse:\nClick Here to View the Course Page for 1 lap\, 2 lap\, and 3 lap courses.  This is a hilly course with each category doing different distances as noted below. \nWhat You Should Expect on Race Day:\n\nA USA Cycling Sanctioned race requires more preparation.  Please plan to arrive 60 minutes early to get into your riding clothes and get your bike ready\nHead over to the registration tent to get your race number and pin it on your jersey according to the instructions\,\nhead out on the bike get a few pedal strokes in the legs to warm up\nLine up in the parking lot 5 minutes before your Category’s race time.  Your race will begin at the sound of the chief referee’s whistle!\nAfter your race\, head back to the parking lot to check on the results.  You have a 15-minute protest period until results are official.  Follow the instructions of the chief referee.\n\nFields:\nMen’s P/1/2 (74 miles) \nMen’s Cat 3 (51 miles) \nMen’s Cat 4 (51 miles) \nMen’s Master’s 40 / 50 / 60 / 70+ (51 miles) \nWomen’s P/1/2/3 (51 miles) \nWomen’s 4/Novice (29 miles) \nMen’s Novice (29 miles) \n  \nScoring:\nThis race is different from most because the only score that matters is your club’s total score!  Everyone who is a member of the BBC is on one team and everyone from GVCC is on the other team (regardless of regular team affiliations).  The winner of the BBC vs GVCC Club vs Club race is the club that scores the most cumulative points across the fields above\, not the individual winners of the races. \n1st = 15 points \n2nd = 13 points \n3rd = 11 points \n4th = 9 points \n5th = 7 points \n6th = 6 points \n7th = 5 points \n8th = 4 points \n9th = 3 points \n10th = 2 points \n11th and after = 1 point each

There will be an ‘A’ and ‘B’ field scored at each race\, with additional separate scoring below. Points are awarded in each race by finishing place: \n1st = 15 points \n2nd = 13 points \n3rd = 11 points \n4th = 9 points \n5th = 7 points \n6th = 6 points \n7th = 5 points \n8th = 4 points \n9th = 3 points \n10th = 2 points \n11th and after = 1 point each \n  \nEach rider’s best nine of eleven results will be used for the overall standings and the top three overall riders will be awarded at the end of season banquet. \n  \nIntermediate Sprints\nWe’ll be offering intermediate sprints of 3\, 2\, 1 points as you cross the start/finish line of some of the laps during the race.  It keeps the racing interesting!  Follow the race director’s instructions for how many laps are offering the intermediate sprint points.  We will aim for 2 or 3 laps depending on the course.  **Offering intermediate sprints is contingent on having a marshal to do finish line scoring.  Sign up to marshal here! \nMaster’s Sunday Series Racing\nNew in 2023\, we are including a version of separate scoring for Masters Men’s 50+ racers!  Master’s 50+ will race in the A field and will be scored against the A’s\, but Master’s points will be pulled out into a separate Master’s leaderboard.  How does this work?  If Master’s 50+ riders get 4th\, 7th\, and 8th in the A race\, their 4th/7th/8th place points will go towards their Master’s standings.  They’ll be on the Men’s A leaderboard and the separate Master’s leaderboard. \nWomen’s Sunday Series Racing\nWomen racing in the Men’s A field will have the same version of separate scoring as the Men’s Master’s 50+ above.  If women riders get 4th/7th/8th in the Men’s A race\, their 4th/7th/8th place points will go towards a Women’s A leaderboard\, as well as the Men’s A leaderboard. \nWomen racing in the Men’s B field will have the same version of separate scoring as well.  If women get 4th/7th/8th in the Men’s B race\, their 4th/7th/8th place points will go towards a Women’s B leaderboard\, as well as the Men’s B leaderboard. \nSunday Series Team Scoring:\nThere will be team scoring in only the full ‘A’ field (including the master’s and women racing in the A field). ALL eleven races count toward the team classification. There are no restrictions on the number of riders per team\, per race\, but only the top three riders of each team will have their points totaled after each race for their team classification scoring. The overall winner will be awarded at the end of season banquet. \nMentoring the C Race\nWe’re always looking for C-race mentors!  If you are an A/B level rider with experience and would like to help out the C race with in-race coaching and work on tactics\, we’d love for you to help!  As a token\, you will get 5 points for mentoring the C race one time during the season.  Please let the officers know at the race that you wish to do this.

To join\, click here. \nParking:\nPark at Hunter’s Creek County Park upper parking lot (approximately 11798 Centerline Rd\, East Aurora\, NY 14052) \nCourse:\nClick Here to View the Course Page.  A 15 mile hilly loop with long valley-road stretches and 2 sharp hills per lap with an uphill finish on Centerline Rd\, great for a climber who can also roll the flats! \nWhat You Should Expect on Race Day:\n\nPlease plan to arrive 30 minutes early to get into your riding clothes and get your bike ready\nWrite down your name on the sign-in sheet when it becomes available\, head out on the bike get a few pedal strokes in the legs to warm up\nAt 10am\, we will ride neutral to the top of Centerline Rd to start the race.  Due to the length of the course\, we will not be doing a full neutral lap.\nWe’ll start the A\, B\, and C groups in waves to race the amount of race laps noted in the Course Description\nAt the end\, make sure you know your finishing place and report it to the event organizer\n\nSunday Series Club Races Individual Scoring:\nThis race is part of the club’s eleven-race points series.
