BBC Monthly Meeting Minutes

November 22, 2021

Present:  S Mongiello, J Thompson, E Haskell, G Cherr, C Knowles, D Borden, J Rosen, R Hengel, J Kent, T Robinson.

Excused: T Williams, F Grillo

The meeting was called to order at 7:07

Old Business:

Treasurer’s Report:  The club finances are in excellent shape, primarily through increased membership.  We have ~$18,000 in our saving account, an increase of ~$1500 compared to 1/2021.

We discussed distributing flyers to local bike shops that could be attached/hung from bicycles. The flyers would include basic information about the BBC and contact information for those interesting in learning more.  Casey Kelly is assisting with the graphic design, so content aside, the flyers will look great.

The next topic for discussion was the mentorship program.  The program is perceived as a great success in its first season.  There are thoughts about methods to improve the program in its second season.  The decision was made to take a deeper dive into this topic at the next Club Meeting.

We discussed the successful race support from Tony Sylor last season- both advertising our races and race-day activities.  There was agreement to pursue continuing this relationship for the 2022 season.

As the pandemic (hopefully) wanes in 2022, there’s hope that kids races can resume.  John Roden is NSYBRA Board Member as a Junior Cycling representative, and has previously organized junior road races.  We will reach out to him to gauge his interest.

New Business

BBC 50^th Anniversary.  Steve Mongiello has plans for special activities including a 50^th anniversary jersey, races, etc.

2022 Race schedule

Anticipate Current races to continue (Hamburg RR- June 19; Freedom Run July17; East Arcade RR- August 20).

Potential new races

4 criteriums at ECC Campus- South with the potential to pair dates with existing races (ECC Crit on the day prior to Hamburg RR for example).

Patches remain a high priority from the highest levels of the club leadership.
