We had a great banquet and ride to cap off the 2025 season!  At Wayland Brewing Company, we celebrated all those who got top-3 in their age categories for our 2025 Sunday Series and Thursday Night Fireballs, and we revealed who you thought were our best new rider, most improved rider, and best sportsmanship awards!

BEST NEW RIDER
Hosein Babai Hosein was new this year and did his first group ride with the club in May. Even on that hilly course, he was powering up the hills seated at an unusually low cadence and just flying, like there must be a motor in there! When he started doing the club races a month later, he won one of them quickly, and to top of a great first season, he was brought into the BBC “Saddle Bags” team time trial squad and became a state champion!
He came onto the scene in July and immediately started crushing races, including winning the August Time Trial B field with a time competitive with the A field.
Hosien babai had a super strong first year. A very powerful rider who challenged us throughout the year.
Always showed up and put in a hard effort. He had impressive showings at the Grand Island TT as well as the TTT. Though I have not ridden with him much, most that have comment in how strong of a rider he is. Nice to have you in the club!
Josef Bellucci* Josef showed up as a rookie with very impressive fitness. At first, I was like “ugh, why does this guy need to make this so hard for me?!” But that sentiment quickly turned into being incredibly appreciative to race with Josef, because racing against him makes everyone involved a better athlete.
Impressive finishes for Sunday series races for both the first and second half of the seasons.
Jake Brink Jake was new this year coming with a lot of fitness from collegiate running and immediately made a splash by winning his first club race and participated in several BBC group rides, including the Ride for Roswell.  He’ll be a force in this club and on the hills in the coming years!
Eric Scott We rode together on the first day pancake ride. He really took off this year!
Tory Trzyna Consistently putting the work. Consistently improving.
Tory is a first year BBC member and has absolutely immersed herself in cycling. She has taken part in road racing, TTS, BBC/NFBC club rides and recently taken part in the TTT, winning a NYS championship along with her fellow teammates. She has demonstrated her commitment to the sport of cycling as well as courage tackling so many disciplines as a new rider.
While not a first year rider Tory has amped up her participation and really shown growth in this past year.
How can I not vote for the undisputed champion of her category? In all seriousness, I truly admire Tory’s perseverance, showing up to and finishing every race, regardless of what the rest of the field looks like.
Always great to see a woman getting into bike racing!
Tory is a legend
MOST IMPROVED RIDER
Alex Aronne Keeps getting faster! And his race craft really improved in the mental sense. He’s become a very smart racer w a good read of race.
Earl Cantwell After a strong debut in 2024, he took things to a new level in 2025, winning the overall B Second Half of the Sunday Series among many strong results.
Earl is an excellent example of someone who loves the process of training, racing, and improving his skills. New to the club last year, he immediately jumped into every club race and saw each opportunity as a learning process. Last year’s learning process was in cornering. After working on it for several weeks during last year’s Fireballs, he went from getting dropped on every corner and having to surge back up to using that fitness to attack off the front! He had a diligent winter of training on Zwift and came out swinging this year, notching consistent results in the Fireballs, wins in the Sunday Series road races, and overall wins for both first and second half of the season for the B series. Earl will be ready to mix it up with A’s in no time!
After an impressive debut last season, Early truly shined this year, especially in the second half of the Sunday road series. He dominated the Shero race, holding a solo break for nearly the entire race. He also finished second in the TT, and he nearly soloed the Grand Island Fireball race to close the season.
Tyler Collins Tyler was a USAC points machine this year. His results are clearly hard earned and evidence of the incredible about work work, dedication, and passion he puts into the sport.
Tyler’s study of the process of training has been impressive and consistent over his first three years in the sport. He is the embodiment of the hard work that is needed week in and week out, during the race season and in the off season, to succeed in this sport. There are no shortcuts, and success may take a while to come, so you have to stay focused and enjoy the process of training. This really paid off for Tyler this year with podium and top 5 results at virtually every sanctioned race he entered this year, including the Zoo Crit, Freedom Run, Resurgence Crit, Apple Valley State Championship crit, and Two Days of Buffalo. He should have enough points for that Cat 3 upgrade!
Tim Dyet Tim was new to the club this year and made a massive improvement in speed and skills during the year. After his first club group ride in April, things quickly turned around in May when he showed up on a cold, rainy day and held a considerably faster pace around the Fireball course. He rode with BBC’s fastest group for most of the 100 miles at the Ride for Roswell, and in the second half of the season was regularly holding onto the group when riders attacked at high speeds. We look forward to this continued development!
Tim put in the work over the season and was able to see noticeable improvement. Tim was brand new to racing at the beginning of the season and really worked hard, by the end of the year he was able to hold on to fast paced wheels at both the Ride for Roswell and the Fireball. Keep up the great work and great attitude Tim!
I think Tim has been really receptive to advice other riders have given him and has worked really hard on aspects of his riding he wants to improve and it showed this year.
Nathan Fox Nate Fox showed a lot of improvement from last year. Always was hanging tough.
Greg Rivera Greg has been a staple in the club for a while now. This year he had impressive races notably our Ohio street crit where he secured a good chunk of USAC points and some dominating Fireball performances. Don’t bring this guy to the line he will have you a run for your money every time.
Tory Trzyna* Tory’s determination and improvement over the last couple of seasons has been very impressive. Always keen to race and develop, she honed her skills with the new-last-year Shickluna Women’s Devo Project and came out swinging this year. She was a consistent force in the Fireball series in the second half of the year. Though the scoring was done by age brackets and gender, Tory did end up 3rd overall in the B’s against the men! And she became a state champion in the team time trial together with her Shickluna Devo teammates. We look forward to Tory’s continued improvement.
Noticed the amount of trial and error on Strava Tory went through to improve her rides! I saw a lot of saddles and repair posts this summer. That’s not easy to figure out
Tory has put in so much work the past year and it’s amazing to see how far she’s come since last year
Tory’s been consistently putting in the work and showing up to race. It’s challenging to be one of the only women riders racing against the guys, and she’s getting stronger, getting better at hanging on for longer. She’s going to be a force next year after another winter of training!
SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD
Earl Cantwell He really made me feel welcomed and included me in the club
Erin Haskell* If you like bikes (or dogs) then Erin likes you, it’s just that simple. This year, Erin handled with grace and kindness quite a few difficulties and other issues. And the fact that you really wouldn’t even be able to tell is really a testament to how dedicate Erin is to provided an excellent to making the BBC experience welcoming for everyone.
She is always a visible face at races, offering all sorts of support to the participants. Seeing how she mentors racers and is friends with everyone, she is an obvious candidate for this award.
Erin puts in a lot of work for the club with our social media, never wants any of the credit, and goes out of her way to welcome new people on rides. She makes people feel welcome and supported when they come to BBC events, is the person people reach out to with any number of concerns, and has an infectious energy.
I am nominating Erin because she personifies the elements of this award. Not only is she an extraordinary athlete ( most recently she has demonstrated her TT prowess) but she has been a tireless advocate for the sport of cycling— especially for women. Much of the BBC’s increase in women’s membership as well as participation in races can be attributed to Erin’s advocacy, encouragement and mentorship. She has also extended her support to new and accomplished riders by taking part in the combined BBC/NFBC rides, always lending encouragement and advice. Indeed, her actions are the very embodiment of good sportsmanship, respect and positive attitude towards fellow racers and riders. I strongly encourage her candidacy for this prestigious award!  also I wish to note that Erin, through her mentorship to all riders, new and experienced, her humility and generosity of time and spirit has imparted a love of this sport in so many people sport
Erin is always a friendly face around at races and other events supporting her fellow riders. She is always eager to help out, and her presence brightens everyone’s day. Near the end of the season, I observed her coaching another racer in a very friendly, non-intrusive way.
Great support at all the Group B ride events! Great at introducing new members to the community
Erin is always so supportive to anyone in the club and out in the community. No matter if she’s racing against you or not she’s always cheering people on in anything they want to accomplish and it’s amazing to watch
Erin goes above and beyond to make others feel welcome and included at all bike events. I also know she does a ton behind the scenes to encourage all new cyclists, but especially women, to give racing a try.
Greg Rivera Greg Rivera has always been and continues to be a very fun and supportive buddy to ride with
All very deserving, Greg stood out to me think year radiating love for being on the bike and always being in a good mood on race days and group rides creating a positive energy within the group.
Jim Oakes Jim brings a positive attitude to the group. He is always involved in rides, racing etc… and is always a pleasure to ride with.
As a new rider, he was very welcoming and made me feel part of the group right from the start
