Agenda

  • Continued discussion from previous officer’s meeting and email thread
    • USAC Races
      • The group is set on holding two USAC races in 2026- Freedom Run and the Team Time Trial.  These were our two more successful USAC races in 2025 based on attendance and finances.  We will be dropping Hamburg and the Resurgence Criterium due to lower attendance, losing money, and the high level of logistical work on the crit for no more race attendance than our other events.  Freedom Run and TTT were also lower registration cost for racers while breaking even on the expense side, so the operation costs are lower.  This is in line with nationwide lower attendance at USAC races and the reduction and consolidation of race offerings.
      • We need day-of race directors for these events.  Duties would be orchestrating the day’s proceedings, making sure that security and police are in place and to be their point of contact, do podiums, etc.  James and Board would assist with the pre-race logistics of venue, police, security, permits, potties, marketing, etc.
    • Club Races
      • The group discussed the amount of club races we would want in 2026 with varying answers, some wanting a lot and others wanting less.  In 2025, we held 18 total club races between the Sunday Series and Thursday Fireballs.  Rebrand these as “training series” because club events are also about achieving process goals around cornering, attacking, holding onto the group longer, learning something and doing better at the next one than you did at the previous one
      • Group brought up the idea of having some of the club races be more spritzed up and more of an occasion.  “Pizza and podiums” where we have a podium after the event, try to get one of our members who is a photographer to do race photos, and have pizza or other food delivered (and bring your own beverage) or have the race near a hang-out venue (brewery, coffee shop) so people can hang out and socialize after the club event.  If we have 16-18 club races, we could target potentially 4-5 of these as more of an occasion.  The club championship race could move to a club race like this format instead of being concurrently held with Freedom Run.  Group will continue to discuss ahead of next meeting.  These podium and pizza club events would need a race director
      • Group discussed that a couple of our club race offerings could be Strava Segment Group Rides, where we ride together, target specific Strava segments and have the website do the scoring, and regroup to continue on.  Allows people who don’t want to do races to be competitive.
    • Rider Development
      • This will be a cornerstone of the BBC’s 2026 objectives.  We are planning on outsourcing the majority of our group rides by having a master calendar on our website of all the major group rides going on in the region with auto-population as rides get scheduled (EA Tuesday Nights, Wayland, NFBC, Campus, Shootout, etc), encouraging our members do to those rides and represent the BBC.
      • Our group events in 2026 will have a main focus on rider development and improvement.  This means group workouts, skills workshops, and mentorship pairings to help riders gain more confidence in groups, work on cornering, and learn new skills.
      • We will partner with BBC sponsor Plan2Peak as well as our experienced members to run these workouts and workshops
    • new BBC team
      • looking at creating a new BBC branded team with certain members to act as club ambassadors.  These riders go out on other group rides and represent the club. This jersey design would be a conglomeration of BBC sponsors and their logos.  Any member could buy the jersey and be included.  Much of what people want from a club is to feel included and feel like they are part of something larger.  The team concept ties into making events attractive for racers and those hesitant
      • this will tie in to our cycling community outreach with advertising community group rides and promoting rider development.  Zack S will support marketing execution once committee completes its plans
  • Committees
    • We need members to fill 3 planning committees
      • Race committee
        • train people to be race directors for USAC races
        • look at our club race courses and prioritize which ones are closest to amenities for “pizza and podiums” for socializing afterward
        • devise 2026 race schedule
          • look at right combination of Sunday and Thursday club races, add or substitute strava segment group rides
      • Team Committee
        • bring focus to new BBC team entity.  Group is set on being a club branded team geared towards novices and inclusion
        • who should be ride ambassadors and what are their roles
        • jersey design
      • Development committee
        • devise curriculum of
          • short weeknight skills workshops
          • Plan2Peak skills clinic

          • mentorship program criteria
