Date: 11/25/2025 at 8pm
Attendees: James Thompson, Erin Haskell, Tory Trzyna, Alisa Mertens, Drew Scott, Moose Imam, Zack Schneider, Rich Scaduto, Chris Salisbury, Jon Siuta, Jim Costello
Sponsor Jersey Idea
- The BBC will have a new jersey design in 2026. It will not be a specific team as mentioned in the previous month, but a new jersey for all club members, available for anyone to purchase it whether they are a current member, non member, or club supporter
- Jersey will have our partnering bike shops and sponsors on it with logos in a cool design, TBD
- Jersey will be displayed in the shops
- shops should ideally purchase their display jersey and will talk with prospective buyers of road bikes or gear
- buyers of road bikes will be more committed customers if they have a reason to use their bike and become part of the cycling community, do group rides, and learn how to race. It benefits the club by using the shops to refer potential members to the club. It benefits the shops by informing their customers who want to buy road bikes that there is a club like ours so they get the most out of their bike and keep coming back for gear and upgrades
- if someone goes to a shop, they should see a jersey on a mannequin with a link to purchase the jersey and join the BBC membership
- we will make our “Group Ride and Group Workout” membership free in 2026. That way, there is no barrier to entry if someone is in a bike shop and buying or upgrading their road bike. This will get them into our group rides, group workouts, and skills clinics. If someone tries out the club, wants to advance and start racing, they can easily then purchase a Rookie Membership to start club races.
- Finances– in 2025, our “group ride and CX membership” had 29 registrants (the majority of our members are full members) and half of them were for CX, so really it’s about 15 x $25 = $375 or so that we would lose, but it’s a small part of our overall club registration dollars for the potential gain in membership. It would also be easier to upgrade to full membership and eliminate a current Bikereg logistical hassle
- We would also like representatives from each bike shop to be involved in club events– some bike shops already have some of their employees as active participating members/racers and would like more
- Jersey purchases
- We will have a link on our website and also use flyers in the bike shops on how to get people to buy the jerseys
- ideally we will get fit kits into some of the bike shops so people can try on before they buy
- Next Steps:
- design jersey, approach remaining bike shops and sponsors, have a deadline for them extending their support. print more BBC flyers to give to shops
- modify sponsorship package to include jersey and shop outreach, full bullet points of sponsorship pitch to shops
Rider Development
- A big focus of the club in 2026 is rider development
- propose having two formal clinics through Plan2Peak’s Peter Cummings
- group rides and workouts
- have workout leaders and workouts posted ahead of time
- start and end each ride at social destination, such as breweries, bakeries, coffee shops
- practice racing skills like attacking, counterattacking, chasing each other
- Mentorship pairings
- we have been good with pairing people in past years, but will make better follow through if mentors/mentees aren’t riding together or coming to events throughout the season
- find strong base of mentors
- master calendar of group rides
- as we will be working on a master calendar with lots of regional group rides of other clubs, encourage members to also do those rides
- pop up skills workshops
- good place to do these is at the Fireball course before Fireball starts on Thursdays
- develop curriculum and guidelines
- our ride leaders and prominent members should look to having the new jersey for cohesion
- calendar suggestions
- 2 per month for group workouts
- our group rides will largely be outsourced
- 1-2 per month pop up skills workshops at Thursday Fireballs- meet at 5:30 or 6:00
- Next Steps
- determine who will lead each ride/workout that we want to put on the calendar
- what are types of workouts that a range of riders can reasonably accomplish?
- hill repeats would be easy to manage as people climb and descend at their own pace
- flat workouts should be on short circuit loops with easy regrouping
- commerce park on Dodge Rd, Fireball loop, South Creek loop south of Hamburg, etc
